Most Streamed Jamaican Artistes

Jamaican Artists with over a Billion streams on Spotify

Among the Top 10 most-streamed Jamaican artists on Spotify, several have joined the Billion Streams Club, according to data from Spotify obtained by WMV.

Spotify launched in Jamaica and 80 other markets in March 2021. In an exclusive interview with World Music Views, Spotify’s communications manager Julia Lavender mentioned that there will likely be more local activities related to music in Jamaica. This indicates Spotify’s plans to boost local consumption and promote Jamaican artists and content.

This aligns with global trends. According to Goldman Sachs’ “Music In The Air” report, music revenue in the US alone is expected to more than double to around $150 billion by 2030, with more people legally streaming music on their smartphones than ever before. This shift has positively impacted the reception of Jamaican music overseas. Jamaican artists are thriving with features and collaborations that are gaining popularity in regions beyond the diaspora, where streaming is becoming fully integrated.
